2nd Home Eatery

We had our lunch in 2nd Home Eatery after aborted our greenbento catering yesterday.

My special fried rice with curry chicken. I think this was the tastiest among the all. RM6.

This fried Mamak Mee was too spicy, think would be nicer if it was not that hot.

My friend's sliced ginger chicken rice, i don't quite like it though, not quite appealing to me perhaps it's too dark. :)

Heavenly Melody

Last weekend, the popular Taiwanese Christian choir, Heavenly Melody was in the town. So, on the night of Sunday, my friend and I decided to go and had a live experience ourselves. It was held in Trinity Church in Ellis Road, Kuching. Though i've heard of this church since my first year, this was the very first time i stepped into it, praise God for the great building!

By the time we reached, there were already so many people in the hall that we could no longer enter into it. What left were a few chairs outside the entrance. :( ha, luckily i brought along my glasses, distance was not a problem for me, ha..

Though had to stand for most of the time, i enjoyed myself with most of the songs and hymns sang! Praise God, Hallelujah!

Trinity Book Room of Trinity Church. Bought something here before we left making quite a number of cars waiting for us as our car blocked their way out, so sorry...

Motivating!!

Yesterday was my first day ever going into OT for anaesthesiology. There, we met a MO, apart from the anaesthesiology proper that he gave us, he shared us his personal experience which really motivating!

He was a repeater for his final year during his undergraduate. "Nobody will care how many years you had repeated after you came out to practise but your capability.", according to him. While he was repeating his year, all his friends left him, he was left all alone regreting his condition but how he motivated himself was by the monthly income that he lost if he was to work by then, so he strove to succeed!! Before we dismissed, he left us his very own message, "study hard, try not to repeat year if possible but if you are repeated anyhow, don't be upset, strive hard to make sure you make yourself to the end".

Thanks God for meeting this very doctor, it's motivating! For all the medical students out there, be motivated and strive hard!

Kaya & Toast

This Sunday, after our service, my friend suggested us to go for our breakfast as she said she wants to treat me. So, we drove to Tabuan Jaya, and i chose to stop here when she asked me to pick a place. No other reason for choosing Kaya & Toast but i missed its iced Milo Dinosaur so much since my last time here in April. :>
Quite a lot of families were having their breakfast here when we entered into it.

Yeah... My Iced Milo Dinosaur! I nearly couldn't get it because the girl at the counter didn't understand it and straight away said no to me. Luckily i found it in the menu at last, pointed out to her while asking her for the second time and then her reply was "oh.. ha.. ya, ok ok, i thought what dinosaur.."

My friend's butter kaya toast. This was really nice, the toast was juicy, i like it.

My kaya and toast.. It was too dry once compared with my friend's butter kaya. Couldn't even finish it by the end of the day, took it away after asking for a carrier from the lady at the counter. Mm.. i wonder what went wrong between me and her, it seemed that we had communication barrier. This was our conversation:

Me: "Excuse me, could i have a carrier for my toast?"

Counter girl: "Hmm?" (looked puzzled...)

Me: "err.. boleh saya dapatkan satu paper bag untuk roti saya?" (ha, suddenly i found how lousy my malay could go!! Translated directly from English)

Counter girl:" oh... ok ok, paper bag.. thought what carrier.."

oh my god, i nearly screamed out "that's 'carrier' my dear!"

Something Touched Me...

This is my 5th week in Paediatrics posting. This morning, as usual, i went into the ward, chatting with the parents regarding their kids' condition. While i was talking to her mother, this 3 year-old girl with Down Syndrome was playing on her own/ with others. From time to time, she would pause and look at me, smiling cheerfully at me. As i reached my hand out to her, trying to shake her hand, she replied a kiss onto my hand, followed by giving me a five! As i continued to chat with her mother by her bedside, i was stopped when she suddenly came to me, patting on my head, the mother smiled and told me she was trying to 'sayang' me. Then, she gave me a big big hug and before i left her, another hug and this time, she kept her forehead onto mine gently.. How sweet is she... This is kids' world, they are always pure and innocent, even with the illness, they show their love without hesitating.. Little angle, i love you so much! To her mom, you have such a lovely kid!

JC's Birthday

JC's birthday was ridiculously held on the weekend before our end of posting exam but we decided to treat him dinner so that the tradition of treating birthday boy dinner will continue till we graduate:p. As a matter of fact, none of us has idea where to go? i suggested shogun...but it's far too expensive, some suggest nando's or kenny roger's but they are too common, i can have them almost every week:). Hm...when we ran out of idea...i have no choice but to call up min...ha, to my surprise, she has a good memory. Min remembered i told her regarding a steak house in Tesco Extra that we haven't tried out. So, we went...

Here, it is called Boston Grill. We ordered set dinner which include our main course, a soup and lastly a dessert.

Peppered Dovy..taste...tasteless. Small portion...i had not enough.

Chicken chop with black pepper sauce..way too salty.

JC's main course...seafood spaghetti (this thing got a name but i jus cant recall it). By the way, it's looks nice but still...tasteless...

Our brother Cosmas ordered Spaghetti Bolognaise..here how it was served. Dont say the word....

My overall comment for the food...NG!!NG!!

Seremban Siew Pow

Seremban is popular of its siew pow. Whenever i'm back, papa will surely buy some for me. During my last trip back, i ate quite a few times, could not really recall the exact number. Many find siew pow from 'Seremban Siew Pow' nice but my family prefer siew pow from 'Siew Pow Master' in Jalan Seng Meng Lee better. It is really fresh from oven as when you get there, you'll find the place to be full with all kind of huge oven running while the aroma of bakery welcoming you. Better still, it is only RM 1.10 each.

Egg tarts, from 'Siew Pow Master' as well. Personally, i like egg tart far more than any other pastry. It is only RM1 each. Unbelivable right? But it's true. The egg is always soft and juicy while the cake is so short that you can easily crumble it if you don't 'handle it with care', ha... Perhaps because it is on high demand, its egg tart is always sold out. Many a times Vince had to go back in vain because of that, so pity..

And this is mama's favourite, curry puff from Siew Pow Master! RM0.70 each. It is slightly bigger than ordinary curry puff at the stalls in most importantly, it is always crispy! not like other curry puff when some can actually be so hard. The filling is just ordinary potato in curry but it is not that spicy, even my sister can tolerate it well. Sorry, sis, your theshold for spicy is just too low, hehe.. :P

Pooh's Cream Roll

Don't really remember since when i start to fall in love with Pooh, i just could not resist anything regarding Pooh. This was a double cream roll, chocolate and vanilla (other flavours are available) from Silver Bird i ate during my last trip back home, i haven't seen it in Kuching so far. Nothing special about the cream roll itself, after all, it was just an ordinary one. But what made it so special to me was its packaging, there was a chef Pooh with his friend, Tigger on it, so cute!!!

Dinner before Vince back

Finally, it's dinner time and Vince decided to try at Zhong Yuan Kitchen near Premier 101 Commercial Centre. By the time we reached there, it was almost full house, the place we took was also just left by a couple...

One can easily look into the kitchen.. Watching at the chefs preparing and cooking while waiting..

We ordered a big pot of chinese tea.. Oriental food goes well with chinese tea...

Our Unagi sticks served with thousand islands sauce recommended by the waitress.. Delicious, crispy, basically, superb!

Belachan Bidin, for west Malaysian out there, this is a kind of fern, from the jungle and i guess we could hardly see this as commonly as over this unique Borneo island, if any.

Stewed pork ribs with wine. I like it but Vince didn't really like it.. Well, things can be subjective at times :)

Home-made bean curd.. Not that special.. Just like ordinary japanese bean curd that we can easily get in the market :)

Plain fragrance rice for two.. It was special just because it was served with this cute little rice pot :>

Kenny Rogers Roasters in Boulevard

After breakfast in Madam Tang's, we decided to go over Boulevard, the second biggest and latest shopping mall in Kuching. Frankly, we were there for him to donate blood as there was a blood donation going on and with each successful donation, there will be a pack of FOC 5 kg rice!! Furthermore, it was quite some time since his last blood donation , not to mention myself, i am always underweight for blood donation. :( But we changed our mind after the registration as our registration number was 180 but the one going on was 70+, mm.. the whole process was just too slow!!

Then we window-shopped around.. Oh ya, we did buy some chocolate as well as hair bands :) By noon, we just went into Kenny Rogers without thinking much.. Maybe it's because we missed out our roasted chicken in Kenny Rogers in Bukit Tinggi the last time.

My quater roasted black pepper chicken with macaroni, maize and fruit salad.. Mm.. quite disappointing..The chicken was not served hot, the maize was obviously not fresh to be golden.. The most satisfying was the fruits, ha.. I like fruits!!

Vince's baked sweet potato with yummy cheese on top.. Mm.. this was nice.. the sweet potato was simply hot and of course, sweet!!

My hot Chocolate drink...

And lastly, not without vanilla flavor-muffin in Kenny Rogers!!

Mm.. leave some for me please...

Laksa Sarawak..

Vince missed Laksa Sarawak so much, so, i brought him to Madam Tang's, the most popular Laksa in town. In fact, this was the second time he was here-- Madam Tang's Laksa Sarawak, in Tabuan Stutong. :)

They offer only 3 in their menu, Laksa Sarawak, Nasi Lemak and Beef Noodle. So, Vince got himself a Special Laksa Sarawak.. How is this differ from the ordinary one is that they give 3 big prawns in Special Laksa Sarawak instead of a few small little shrimps in ordinary one.

While I'd never tried on its beef noodle, i got this for myself. The beef was tender and for the noodle, it only made me miss the dried toss pan mee that i ate in Ampang..

In fact, i was here with my friends a week ago. We were here for its Laksa after coming back from hospital but all the Laksa was sold out by 1pm, so we had ourselves beef as well as chicken Nasi Lemak. Both were delicious but personally i prefer beef nasi lemak better :>

Jase's Tea Room

After coming out from The Spring, just before going back home, Vince and me stopped by Jase's Tea Room to have a drink. It was strongly recommended by one of my friend and after we experienced it ourselves, we agreed with her, it was really a great place!!

Once entered into the room, i like the place! The atmosphere was good, it was so quiet with soft music playing in the background. Its interior design was great, each corner has its own design with its uniqueness. In the end, we decided to sit by the counter.

Our pot of pink rose bud tea, recommended by the lady at the counter.. Mmm.. the aroma was good. I like it plain but Vince reassured me adding in a sugar cube was nicer.

Our slice of Black Forest Cheese Cake.. Yummy....

Juicy roasted chicken wings... It was tasty even without the sauce..

Ha.. some of the photos taken just for fun... ;P
