Shiloh

Yesterday was my friend's birthday and we celebrated for her in Shiloh Cafe. One of my friend asked me what's the meaning of 'Shiloh' as she thought Christian would have know it. But i really have never come across this word till i decided to figure it out. Finall, i got the answer, Shiloh is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as an assembly place for the people of Israel where there was a sanctuary containing the Ark of Convenant until it was taken by the Philistine from the battlefield at Aphek (probably Antripatis).

The atmosphere over the place was good. Once you get into it, you will notice bible scriptures and verses in every nook and corner.

'For God so love the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16' is the verse which welcomes us into the cafe.

Apart from that, you can easily find some little booklet for gospel purposes displayed and readied to be given away in Shiloh.

Besides the neat and tidy arrangement in the cafe, another reason why i find this place comfortable is because throughout our moment spent there, there will be hymn being played one after another, which was absolutely soothing...

These are some of the drinks ordered by my friends... I just asked for a sky juice and my friend refused to include it into this photo, too bad.. :(

My black pepper chicken chop and lamb steak..

My friend's sandwiches... And many other more that we ordered..

Personally, all the food and beverages served here were just of average level compared to any other cafe around but the serene and tranquil atmosphere win out.

Superb Dinner!

Tonight my sister-in law went out with my brother to have farewell dinner for my brother's colleague. So, i'll have to settle my own dinner for myself. I've been waiting for this for a long long time and here comes the chance... Instant Maggi Curry!

My sister-in law is a very health conscious person. So, it's really been quite a long time i did not eat any kind of instant noodle at home and obviously i miss it so much! So, tonight, unsurprisingly i was so excited that i put so much passion into cooking my noodle. Firstly, i fried my frankfurter, then my egg, followed by the baby sweetcorns. Then, finally, only i cooked the noodle. I took nearly about half an hour to get everything done. I think this is the longest ever i took to get my INSTANT noodle cooked. :)

But the end result was superb!! Yummy...

Inflation..

Since the day after Malaysian Government announced the rise of the price of petrol, almost the price of everything in the market rose sky high. This is especially true for the food. A plate of mixed rice can go up to RM7 or even 8 when you've accidentally taken more. We can really feel the inflation! The global economic outlook is so unfair.
To combat this and continue to survive under such situation, everyone starts to think of ways to spend less in order to save for a rainy day. And for this reason, my sister-in law has come out with an idea to make me a lunch box every morning before i go out for classess. Really thanks God that I'm so lucky to have my brother and sister-in law with me though i am 1ooo over kilometres away from my parents back in my hometown. This really grants me nothing to fear or worry of in the downslope of the economy. Praise be to Lord!

Stressful life's started again...

Our paediatrics posting started since this monday. Initially i still didn't feel the pressure, still wondering why one of my friend kept saying she was stressful. After going to the ward, we were given this textbook on neonatal resuscitation, logbook and etc. By then i realized why she was so stressful.. We will have a course and an assessment on neonatal resuscitation in 2 weeks time from now, we are expected to complete the procedures in the logbook, to go on-call, ward work, presentations, seminar, tutorial..... These are just part of the list.. Now, i'm under stress as well. Hopefully i can get this through easily.

It's Friday-- It's tea time!!

It's Friday and my friend suggested us to have a try on a Chinese restaurant near RH plaza for our lunch. Then after the lunch, we went straight into Happy Deli, the snow ice shop to get ourselves some drink.

I ordered myself a fresh strawberry snow ice as i prefer snow ice than other drink. I was so grateful i ordered this because it really taste good, icy and cooling especially in this hot weather. Furthermore, there were a lot of strawberries on top my ice!! I like strawberry!

And these were my friend' drinks. Clock-wise from the left were mango smoothie, yogurt smoothie and taiwanese bubble milk. All tasted nice but the bubble milk, they should have added in more milk i guess.

Life is bored without food. So one of the friend ordered some side dishes. One of them is spicy fried chicken. It was crispy!

Another was fried carrot cake. Yummy.. It was fragrant.. I like it but i just had a little of it as i was still full from the lunch and my snow ice :)

Concentrate on Solution, Not Problem

Couple of days ago, I borrowed a book from library, named 'You Are What You Think' by Doug Hooper. I borrowed it as i thought i would like to read something other than medical stuff in order to ease my mind. After reading it, I was really inspired and motivated!
According to the author, anyone, no matter what is his or her present circumstances, has the inner power to change his life for better. One's happiness need not be dependent upon what others say or the manner in which they act. Instead, it is one's thoughts and actions that are the determining factors in one's life.
One of the story which touched me the most in the book is a story from the book of Daniel written in Old Testament. It was about a story whereby Daniel was thrown into the lion's den.
Daniel was locked in the den with several lions which had been purposely starved for the occasion. If this had been you or I, I'm sure we would have placed our attention onto the lions. Not Daniel, however!
There was a light coming into the den from above. It was upon this light that he placed his entire concentration as he prayed, and he was saved. From the perspective of Christian, his prayer was answered and God salvaged him. However, from ordinary human's point of view, as what intepreted by late Emmet Fox, a noted author and lecturer, the lions represented problems in our lives while the light was the freedom to Daniel, or the solution to his immediate problem. By turning his attention away from the problem and focusing instead upon the solution, he was saved. The lions (or problems) lost their power to harm him.
Most of us set goals, then think of all the obstcles that stand in the way of our achieving them. By concentrating upon the 'light' or solution, instead upon the problems, the obstacles become as harmless as did the lions in the story of Daniel.
George Willing, the famed moutain climber, once said something about overcoming fear: " Block out all thoughts of falling from your mind and place your attention upon your destination." Therefore, for anyone out there (included me), do not frown at your problems, instead, concentrating upon the solution and we shall achieve our goals!

Determination to Lose Weight!!

Here is a deal, as a medical student and a future medical personnel, i know the risks of obesity and its effects to my health. I have been overweight since primary school and recently, got in to new group, OBESITY. My family and Min have been advising me, days and nights, to lose weight and i did try several time, but failed. But now, I have determination, i wanna get an ideal body after 6 months. My current body weight is 110kg and after 6 months, i wanna get down to 70kg!! Here is my photo of 110kg.

Ya, ya, i know it's ugly...here, Min has bet that she will buy me a TUX when i succeed (Woo Hoo..) and i bet with my coursemate a Shogun buffet (exPensIve!!). But the real deal is that i get my confidence back and have a healthy body (Thanks Min). I keep praying that i don't lose determination in the half way!!

Not merely a casing

Our new semester started since a week ago. On the very first day of the new sem, my friends presented this to me-- a casing for cell phone, which is 100% hand knitted with a cute little kitten on top :) Since i've just got a new w880i from Vince, this casing just strikes the right time to serve its purpose. What touched me the most was, it is not merely a casing, as a matter of fact, the reflection of friendship. I learned this after i found out that they kept checking on the NTD (New Taiwan Dollar) rate as their buck was running out while their elective posting in Taiwan and yet they made an effort to buy me a souvenir! Friends, thanks for it. I love you guys so much!

Genting Trip

A day before Wesak, we decided to have a one-day trip to Genting. Just before 7, we drove to a nearby McD drive-thru to buy our breakfast. Then, we parked our car at ktm station to start on our journey. When the commuter arrived, we jumped into a quiet cabin and gulped on our sausage McMuffin with egg and his cup of coffee (not mine as i would easily get bad palpitation by even a few sips of coffee). Although it is not allowed for food and drink, we could still finish everything in the cabin :)

Reaching KL Sentral about an hour later only were we told that 9am tickets were sold out, the earliest available was 10.45am. So, reluctantly, we bought the tickets and loitering arond, passing our time in McD by McFlurry Oreo and sundae.

As soon as we finished our ice-creams, it's time for bus. Maybe it's due to Sunday itself or perhaps the next day was public holiday, crowds heading to the highland were far too many to be imagined. Though we had our tickets, we still have to squeeze ourselves into the bus when it arrived. This puzzled me even until now. Anyway, we managed to get into our seats eventually.

Along the way, we passed by a number of great building and nice sceneries, one of which included Batu Cave!

As the bus moved with time, there were
getting fewer and fewer manmade
building. What left to welcom us was hills and mountains.

By the time we reached the foot of the hill, it was almost noon. Seeing such a cute double decker snack shop, we snapped some photos before we rushed to que for skyway.

Alas, when we got to the skyway station, there was already a long long que lying ahead of us! After about one-and-a-half-hour of queing only we reached our destination!

We were both exhausted and hungry. So, we hurried into Marrybrown to settle our lunch before we move on.

After the meal, we were energitic again. But we didn't play any of the outdoor games in the theme park because i dare not to try any of them. I think I have PTSD after playing roller coaster in Times Square. ;P So, we spent quite some time indoor including archery, snow world and the great satisfactory was winning a big bunny, pipe etc from throwing balls and rings!

To avoid another long que, we went down earlier. By 5.35pm, we were already in the skyway again.

Before going down for bus, we stopped by Skyway Sidewalk Cafe with our bunny to take our dinner.
